Scale
For the Bento Box:
-
Cooked Japanese short-grain rice (enough to fill half the bento box)
-
Chicken teriyaki (pre-made; homemade preferred)
-
Lettuce (for garnish)
-
Cherry tomatoes
-
Sunomono (Japanese cucumber salad, pre-made)
-
2 slices bunny-shaped apple
-
Furikake (rice seasoning)
Instructions
- Cook Japanese short-grain rice and allow it to cool fully before packing, so the warmth doesn’t affect the other ingredients.
- Warm up leftover teriyaki chicken in a skillet until heated through, then set aside to cool slightly.
- Rinse and dry lettuce and cherry tomatoes, arranging them neatly in the box once the rice has cooled a bit.
- Spoon rice into half of the bento box and sprinkle furikake over the surface.
- Add lettuce to another section and place the teriyaki chicken on top.
- Spoon sunomono into a small silicone cup and nestle it into the bento (avoid adding excess liquid).
- Tuck in bunny-shaped apple slices to fill any remaining gaps.
- Let the entire bento cool down completely before sealing with the lid.
