About Élodie – French Home Cook in New York

Bonjour! I’m Élodie Martin, a French home cook in New York, originally from Lyon—often called the culinary heart of France. I now live just outside of New York City, where I’ve brought my copper pots, spice tins, and most importantly, my love of simple, heartfelt French cooking across the Atlantic.

I didn’t grow up in fancy restaurants. My maman was my first teacher, and our little kitchen was always filled with chopping sounds, warm laughter, and the comforting aroma of garlic sizzling in butter. We cooked with feeling, not formality—and that’s still how I cook today.

When I moved to the U.S., I worried I’d lose that deep connection to my roots. But becoming a French home cook in New York gave me new joy: sharing my culture with people who may have never made a quiche or whisked a vinaigrette from scratch. My first baguettes here were more like bricks, and don’t even ask about my early attempts at croissants—but every kitchen fail made me better and more determined.

Today, I teach cozy, approachable French recipes. The kind of dishes that feel like a hug. Nothing fussy—just good food made with heart. My mission is to help beginners feel confident, whether they’re stirring their first pot of soupe à l’oignon or flipping homemade crêpes on a weeknight.

So if you’ve ever dreamed of bringing a little French comfort to your table, you’re in the right place. Let’s cook together—warm, wonderful meals that make life feel just a bit more delicious.
